Arionna Covington, daughter of Freddie and Angela Covington, was the winner of our March Kids Club reading incentive program. We offered a selection of wrapped books and the kids made a decision to check one out based on a simple blurb about the content. Once they had read the book, they could return it with a rating card to be entered into a special drawing. Some of the ratings were Happy-Go-Lucky and I Hit the Jackpot! Thanks to all participants that made this another successful program.
Just a reminder that there will be no scheduled classes for Story Time and Kids Club Zone for the month of March as we prepare for Glitter 2023. We will resume Story Time on Friday, April 14th at 11am and Kids Club Zone will resume on Monday, April 24th at 4:30pm.We look forward to seeing you then!
Mark your calendar now and make plans to attend another fun cooking class with Ms Lynette! Class will fill up quickly, so call 443-5014 today to reserve your spot! Ages 10-18 welcome to attend!
On Saturday, February 18th, we hosted a kids cooking class. Five students created a macaroni pizza, where macaroni was the crust. The students fried sausage, measured and mixed seasonings into tomato sauce, boiled and drained macaroni noodles and put it all together to create a delicious macaroni and cheese, sausage and pepperoni masterpiece, which they enjoyed eating. Those in attendance were Aubrey Covington, Alaya Covington, Ryan Daniels, Ariel Willis, and Haylee Willis.
If any child ages 10-18 is interested in these classes, please call the library at 443-5014. Email at spartaillinoislibrary@gmail.com or visit us at 211 W Broadway, Sparta, IL. More cooking and sewing classes coming soon. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the US Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
Kids Club Zone recently enjoyed “Starbooks Cafe” and participated in conversation of “What makes a good friend!” 21 students were in attendance for this event. We love to bring smiles to their faces!
